Proud to Be Me! Program for Teens

Proud to Be Me! is a dynamic program designed specifically for teens to:

  • Learn to understand themselves better
  • Get along better with friends and others
  • Recognize and develop their strengths

Our teens face many difficult decisions and must deal with all types of people in life.  This program will help teens better understand themselves and others and why they get along with some people and feel uncomfortable with others.  Rather than deepening separations among young people, this program will help teens build bridges of mutual understanding and respect.  Proud to Be Me! provides participants with tools to use in everyday life; helping to make positive choices and decisions in difficult situations.

Utilizing the I-Sight® self assessment developed by Inscape Publishing, this program will help young people better understand why they think and act as they do.  Written in positive and affirming language, I-Sight will also increase their self-esteem and show them how to use their strengths more effectively.

This program consists of five 50-minute modules including the completion of the I-Sight® assessment.

Module 1 – Complete Self Assessment
This module will include the overview of the I-Sight® self assessment, completion of the assessment, determining and reading the DiSC® dimensions.

Module 2 – Understanding the Dimensions of Behavior
Module 2 will include discussion around the four behavioral styles identified.  In addition, there will be group discussion, small group discussion and activities.

Module 3 – Future (Career) Goals
This module will focus on goals for the future and how their results of the self assessment can help make decisions that affect their futures.  Participants will work in groups and will include discussions around possible career choices and success.

Module 4 – Behaviors under Pressure
Module 4 will provide an opportunity for the group to think about behaviors and how behaviors might change in difficult or challenging situations.  This module will include a general review of behaviors, information about behavior under pressure, options for responding, and a personal action plan.

Module 5 – People-Reading
This module will help participants to “people-read” so they can assess others and get an idea of how another person might want to be treated based on his/her DiSC® Dimension of Behavior.  As a group, the participants will develop an action plan of how they might use their strengths to improve how they relate to another person.
